19th Annual World Chicken Festival
September 25-28, 2008

Colonel Harland SandersColonel Harland Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, is one of the most highly recognized figures in the world. Laurel County, Kentucky, located in the heart of the beautiful Daniel Boone National Forest, is proud to be the home of the Colonel's first and original restaurant established in the 1940's. Lee Cummings, co-founder of Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, also began his career in 1952 with his uncle, Colonel Sanders, in Laurel County.

The Eighteenth Annual World Chicken Festival is a tribute to this heritage.  We invite you to the 2008 international celebration set September 25-28 in beautiful downtown London.  Filled with "egg-citement", more than 250,000 people attend the four-day event each year.

City of London SealLondon and Laurel County have been a crossroads for travelers ever since Daniel Boone led a band of brave pioneers through the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky. The early settlers were forced to battle Indians and dark forests, but today's travelers find it much easier to reach Laurel County. Located at the intersection of I-75, the Hal Rogers and Cumberland Parkways, and U.S. 25, London is still a "Vacation Crossroads".
