The Laurel County Extension
Homemakers and the Kentucky Poultry Federation
are proud sponsors of the 2008 World's Chicken Festival Cooking Contest.
Kentucky residents may enter the contest with a CHICKEN
MAIN DISH recipe.
Entries include:
Complete Name, Address, Telephone Number, Division (Adult or Junior), Time,
Temperature, and Cooking Utensils used in the recipes directions.
Entries to be typed on a separate sheet of paper.
A first, second and third
prize is awarded in each division. First prize $400.00, second prize $200.00, and third prize $100.00. Taxes
on
prizes responsibility of the winner.
Each entry must include chicken as the main ingredient.
Contestants eligible for one of two divisions: adult or
junior/senior high (grades 7-12). Foods professionals such as chefs,
home economists, etc. not eligible to participate and only one cook-off
participant per family.
Recipes are submitted to the Laurel County Extension Office, 200 County Extension Rd.,
London, KY 40741. Entries not
acknowledged or returned. Judges' decisions are final. All
recipes submitted become the property of the Laurel County Extension
Homemakers and are distributed in their official cookbook.
Three finalists chosen in each division
participate in a final cook-off on Saturday at the Extension Office in London.
Participants furnish enough food and supplies to prepare the recipe
twice and must observe standard food safety preparation guidelines.
Total preparation time not to exceed one hour. Finalists
notified and given more details. Special provisions
for parking, unloading and loading made for finalists in the
cook-off.
RECIPE REQUIREMENTS
Submit as many recipes as
you wish, but each recipe must be on a separate sheet of 8-1/2" x
11" unlined
paper.
Type your name,
address, and telephone number on each recipe. Also specify age
category.
All ingredients should be
familiar to most people and available locally. All recipes must have a
maximum preparation and cooking time of one hour.
Recipes should contain
exact measurements, cooking utensils, preparation time and temperature.
JUDGING
All eligible recipes judged on overall nutritional quality, ease of preparation, suitability
to today's fast-paced lifestyle, taste appeal, creative combinations of chicken with other foods and appearance.
Three recipes selected in each division by qualified judges. A final cook-off
held on Saturday, September 27th at the Laurel County Extension Office. Finalists will be notified by September
15th.
All entrants automatically
consent to the use of their name and likeness for promotional and publicity
purposes without restriction, compensation or advance notification, and
relinquish any and all rights and interest regarding their recipes.
Only one winner per family.
