3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNEY

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Each team will consist of three players and may have two substitutes. Changes in rosters will not be allowed after the teams first game begins.
Ages shown for each age group are the maximum. Age requirements will be determined by a valid KY Operators License or a Birth Certificate.
AGE IS AS OF DATE OF SEPTEMBER 25^th, 2008.
Age will be checked if there is protest, which must be made prior to that game. Proof of age must be present at start of each game.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

All divisions will play a double elimination tournament. In case of inclement weather, a single elimination format may be used. Some divisions may be combined with other divisions if there are not enough entries for competition within a division.
All games must start with three players on each team. Two players can complete a game.
A five minute grace period for a team’s first scheduled game of the tournament will be allowed. All other games will start at the scheduled time. A short warm-up time will be allowed if time permits, however teams may be required to start play as soon as the previous game has completed.
Games will end when the first team scores 16 points or after 20 minutes, whichever comes first. First possession of the game will be decided by a coin toss.

SCORING: Free throw: 1 point

Baskets made outside the 20’ line: 2 points

Baskets made inside the 20’ line: 1 point

A player fouled on a missed basket will have two free throws to make one. (exception-behind 20’ arch the player gets two shots to make two). If basket is good, player gets one free throw. Once in the Bonus, (on the 6^th team foul) player gets one shot. Once in double bonus, (on the 10^th team foul) player gets two shots to make two.
A flagrant and/or deliberate foul, as determined by the court official, will result in a free throw attempt by the team that was fouled. Any player may shoot a free throw awarded because of a flagrant or deliberate foul. The fouled team shall also retain possession of the ball. Two flagrant fouls committed by the same player will result in automatic ejection from the tournament.
The three-second lane rule will not be used.
Player substitutions during the game are unlimited, but can only be made during dead-ball situations.
Dunking Will Not be Allowed at Any Time (Including Pre-Game).
Each team will be allowed two 30-second time-outs, but the game clock will not stop. There will be NO time-outs during the last three minutes of the game.
Ball must be “Taken Back” on each change of possession. Take back line will be the two-point line. Both the ball and the player must go beyond the two-point line; failure to do so will result in loss of possession.
All in-bounding after dead balls or change of possession shall be behind the two-point line at mid-court. The ball must be checked by an opposing player and passed to a teammate to initiate play.
Alternating possession will apply to all jump ball situations.
Court officials will officiate and ensure that the games are played fairly and without excessive aggressiveness. They will interpret rules and settle all disputes. Officials will have the final say. Verbal abuse and/or physical contact with a court official will not be tolerated. Violators will be prosecuted.
National Federation of High School Rules will apply for all situations not covered by the rules provided.
